5000 Sokol Blosser Lane

5000 Sokol Blosser Lane in Dundee Oregon is where this fabulous little discovery comes from.
I went to my favorite little Wine bar this weekend and was in a particularly “off” mood for drinking. Dunno why… it happens. Vintage 1740 on Boston in Tulsa is a great little place for meeting friends and, for me, a chance to sample a fairly regularly evolving wine list. Not the kind of wine list that makes your head spin from sticker shock. But good mid-line priced, “not-afraid-to-tell-your-friends-about-it” wine choices!
So I sat in my favorite antiquated crushed velvet chair and picked “Meditrina.” She was about $9 a glass, retail, and tasted like more! She’s named after the Roman Goddess of Wine and Health. I love it… why not! I am not typically drawn to a Pinot Nior when I’m out… I usually go for Cabs. But it was, as I said, an “off” night. This was a blend, at that…. Pinot/Zin/Syrah!
Sounded fun and….. it was. Great structure (body of the wine) and it danced around in my mouth with flavors of lush fruit and spice. Really more spice on the nose than on the mouth…. but peppery, for sure! The four of us ended up drinking it, mainly because I wouldn’t shut up about it. It hit my mood perfectly which was a lucky shot on my first glass of the evening!
The Pinot adds the fruit base of this wine, while the Zin and Syrah provide the spicy smell and taste.. it’s an awesome party wine… blends usually are. It would be great with Chicken and many mid-level fare. Also you could actually drink this with mexican foods… something not very easy to pair.
Enjoy it, but it goes down easy… so consider yourself informed!
