Attend a great benefit dinner tonight at a dear friends home. Saw great people, had great wine and great food! All for a good cause!

I also gave a little presentation on wine tonight. Getting a little better at this public speaking thing…. I swear after 40, you don’t care as much! It’s a really cool benefit!

Also, NEVER be the one holding the camera whilst taking a iPhone group photo IF you are in it! My head looks like it is 4 times the size of the others! Ugh..

The weekend is here!

This lovely lady popped into my mind today…. Just randomly! Does that ever happen to you….?

It’s been a few months since I have seen or talked to Melanie…. But every time I do, it’s like the last time was yesterday. I love that!

She has been a friend to my mother and I from the moment we met her….

Which…. is a two to three bottles of wine evening, to tell ya that whole story… Let’s just say that when a chubby gay kid in “husky” jeans moves into that small cowtown off of I-35….. Well, I don’t care what religion you are…. You are gonna be callin’ on Jesus. Lol!

Anyhoo, I love you Melanie and miss you! Glad you ESP’d me today! Xo

So today is going to be a “mental photo of the day” because nothing was as good today as a chat with my mom…. She told me that when she was here visiting and drinking wine (which factors in later)…. She slipped her fingers under her knees while listening to a story someone was telling, and felt a swollen area behind her knee. She, being the mother who probably had some influence on my own hypochondria, went through all the thoughts from heart conditions, water retention, needing a knee replacement, to a bite of some sort.

She then after about an hour of internal panic, went to restroom to look at it… Realizing quickly that she had put on a pair of “jeggings” from yesterday and it was her undies stuffed in the leg. Lol!!!

Seriously, this is where I get it….

Fabulous wine….. This 2007 Ridge Lytton Springs blend is delish!

My dear friend Dr. Kate White brought this to me….. She is quite the connoisseur of many varietals and I am blessed to get a bottle of her latest loves! This one was one she has been drinking for years, and I see why.

The thing about blends is two-sided…. Some snobs tend to snub blends, because they are purists at heart…. And while that can be appreciated…. The best of the “purest” single varietals are often out of MOST people’s budgets or nit available to them for many reasons! We are talking about they really high dollar stuff!

So blends started out as a way to mimic a better wine. But as they have perfected this idea and it has evolved over the years…. Blends have become an art unto themselves…. Some of the more gifted winemakers recognized the value in each varietal and what each one could bring “to the table” and the now artfully blend the grapes to create an experience that can’t be had by one single grape type.

Bottom line….. I’m a fan! Give this one a try!
